A Dance School Doesn’t Have to Just Be a Dance School…
It all started in 1976, when George Warren opened a theatre dance department in a Ballet Academy in Somerset, NJ, offering tap, theatre, and jazz/funk classes. George was still performing professionally and teaching in NYC, but wanted a link to his family roots in New Brunswick, NJ. The classes grew quickly and soon Center Stage was born with studios initially in Somerset and East Brunswick. George then asked some of his professional dance and theatre friends from NYC and NJ to be part of this new school with a vision of brining professional educators with strengths in different dance styles, acting, and voice to collectively mold students into a new breed of well-rounded artists to take the stage in the NYC and LA theatre and dance communities. Center Stage broke the mold and reinvented performing arts training in New Jersey.
Center Stage’s vision and commitment to each student is stronger than ever. We build character and teach skills that will last a lifetime. We are a family of educators, nurturing each student to reach their maximum potential. For 40 years, we have been a leader in the Central Jersey arts community. We are proud of our accomplishments and welcome every new addition to our Center Stage family!
